Who We Work With

Riad Bubu

Our main kennel partner in Europe Riad Bubu is run by Mersad and Melisa Sehic. We have worked with them for many years and they work tirelessly to care for the dogs that we rescue, help rehabilitate them and get them ready to travel to their new homes. Honey the resident cat is kept very busy sifting out which dogs can go to new homes with a cat in residence.
Mersad and Melisa support us when we get calls from members of the public about dogs in immediate danger on the streets as well as dogs on death row. Working with local vets and their two sons they travel to save the dogs from wherever they need to be rescued from and are always happy to work with us on special cases like Bobi who was found on the streets bleeding from her mouth due to a form of cancer. She is now cancer free and settled in a new home in the UK.

The Retreat Kent

Saving Strays are lucky enough to call Billy Thompson, founder of The Retreat Farm Animal Sanctuary in Kent, their dear friend. His incredible facility is home to sheep, pigs, cows, horses, chickens, turkeys, goats, and many more beautiful sentient animals that have been rescued from abuse or slaughter. Billy has always had a love for dogs and we were thrilled when 12 months ago, he agreed to work with us to help rehabilitate some of our more nervous dogs. Some of the land dogs from our open sanctuary in Bosnia, who we inherited from Milena, and who need a little more work than the others, and a few that we have rescued from death-row, are now living happily with Billy as their foster dad. Our Trustee Maria Slough visits them on a regular basis, and this summer will be spending a lot more time with them, hoping to aid the building of their confidence. The dogs that live with Billy have the most amazing life, surrounded in peace and calm and love and lots and lots of food. Billy is our very own hero for these dogs and we could not be more grateful. Emma Phillips

Saving Strays are very excited to announce a new collaboration with Clinical Animal Behaviourist Emma Phillips. We are always looking for ways to support our dogs and the familes that adopt them and better understand the wonderful sentient beings that we rescue. Emma has worked with animals for over 20 years working with dogs for a decade. With a BSc in Canine Behaviour and Training Emma is currently studying for an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Training. Emma holds Clinical Animal Behaviourist status with the APBC and ABTC and is a registered expert witness. You can visit her website.
We are so thrilled to have Emma on board

Dogs4Rescue

Saving Strays first met the team at D4R in early 2020. Dogs4Rescue is a unique, independent dog rescue in a semi-rural part of Manchester where the dogs live together in a kennel free environment run Emma Billington. The dogs spend their days getting all the exercise, socialisation, stimulation, love and care that they need whilst waiting for their forever homes. They are free, happy and sleep in warm beds at night, completely unaware they are homeless dogs. The dogs live alongside goats, sheep, hens, pigs, horse, cats, rabbits, ferrets, turkeys and more. D4R have helped rehome several of our dogs and work closely with us on rehabilitating our more nervous dogs by providing lifetime care for them until they are ready to be rehomed. You can learn more about their work at their website.
